Today’s Scripture

“But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” (1Sam. 30:6, KJV)

Today’s Word

Encourage Yourself

Sometimes you have to encourage yourself.

Sometimes you have to speak victory during the test.

And no matter how you feel,

speak the word and you will be healed;

speak over yourself,

encourage yourself in the Lord.

Sometimes you have to speak the word over yourself,

the pressure is all around,

but God is present help.

The enemy created walls,

but remember giants, they do fall;

speak over yourself,

encourage yourself in the Lord.

As I minister to you, oh I minister to myself;

life can hurt you so,

’til you feel there’s nothing left.

(No matter how you feel),

(speak the word and you will be healed).

Speak over yourself

I’m encouraged.

I’m encouraged.

(Speak over yourself),

(encourage yourself in the Lord).

Donald Lawrence – (Sheri Jones-Moffett)

To encourage oneself is to inspire oneself with courage or confidence. The bible tells us that this is what David did after he returned to his dwelling place and realized that his village was destroyed and their wives and children had been kidnapped, (including his). At this time many of the soldiers in his camp began to rebel and spoke of taking his life. By encouraging himself in God; this led to supernatural peace among those in his camp and David receiving approval and direction from God to retrieve what was stolen them. They not only got back what was taken but much more.

If you feel depressed about any unfortunate situation that exists in your life and there is no one to lift you up in spirit; realize that this is not the time to give up or sink into greater state of depression or despair. It is instead the time to put forth the effort to encourage yourself in God; just as David did. When you speak to God about your situation and ask him to strengthen you, he will. And in the end, like David, God will enable you to overcome the challenges that you face and ultimately experience the victory and happiness that only he can give.

 Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank you for your patience and love. There are times when we feel discouraged about things in life that seem beyond our control. Please help us in these moments to encourage ourselves in you. Because you are the same yesterday and forever we will, not only, receive divine encouragement, but also the desires of our heart. This we ask that we may enjoy at all times the abundant life that you have offered us, in Jesus name. Amen.
